The Customer, Compete, and Industry research team in the Microsoft Office Division (MOD) drives market research excellence and innovation in order to infuse product development with differentiated possibilities by understanding emerging trends based on customer habits, competitive strategy and overall market trends. We are looking for a market researcher to help drive the Microsoft Office business forward. This role is responsible for delivering high-impact, actionable industry insights to support Office engineering. Success in this position means efficiently analyzing multiple data sources such as market research datasets, competitive strategy analysis, and market forecasts with an eye to synthesizing the story and reporting out emerging industry trends. This work will result in deep industry/technology trend intuition, and rich competitive landscape knowledge - all of which is distilled into thought-leading and impactful product recommendations that R&D uses to deliver products that delight consumers and drive our business forward.

Key responsibilities include the following:
- Facility with SPSS and/or SAS and Excel datasets
- Analyze various datasets (e.g., primary research, web data, market forecasts) looking for industry trends
- Provide thought leadership by identifying and recommending the industry analytical plan that address short and long-term engineering objectives.
- Analyze market opportunities, emerging trends, and competitive moves to inform engineering decisions
- Drive strategic discussions with the engineering groups on their most critical business issues related to product development.
- Proactively and routinely share fact-based, forward-thinking market and consumer insights in the productivity software space. 
- Collaborate with other research managers in the execution, analysis and presentation of insights to ensure a holistic understanding of the business issue.
- Develop great relationships with partner teams across MOD
- Work closely with R&D, marketing, and strategy stakeholders to deeply understand MOD’s business opportunities, capabilities, and challenges 
- Mentor and being a good role model for other members of the team
- Lead cross-organizational v-teams to drive projects and decisions

Minimum Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree is required; MBA or related graduate degree is strongly preferred. 
- 1 year of market research and / or strategy consulting work experience 
- 2 years of practical experience using statistical and business tools, research methodologies (SPSS and/or SAS) and analytics.
- Experience from the technology industry is a strong plus, so is International previous trend and forecast
