Description
The Commerce Platform team is developing some of Microsoft’s largest scale, most business critical cloud services. These services process nearly 5M transactions daily with load growing linearly as Microsoft moves to a fully cloud-powered services and devices company. The online-services Commerce platform powers all of Microsoft’s key businesses: Windows Store, Microsoft Store, XBOX, Office 365, Azure, Windows Phone, and Dynamics to name just a few. If you purchase a Windows 8 app, aggregate XBOX points, register a windows phone, purchase Office for personal or business use then you are using the commerce platform.
We are the service intelligence team responsible for measuring and monitoring live site health for all Commerce properties. Commerce is beginning to make fundamental changes in the way it develops services; focusing on getting the fundamentals done right is the highest priority for Commerce as we make this transition. Service Intelligence is the critical pillar on which all of our services will be built. Commerce's feature teams will be looking at us to lead the direction for a modern service development paradigm. You can help Commerce and Microsoft set the direction in this incredibly important space!
We want to define and design a SI system with the whole company in mind, working closely with Azure, Autopilot, and other teams that are also involved in this space. We will be building a system by partnering with teams and sharing technologies such as Cosmos, Autopilot, MDS, and Azure. We fully believe in the spirit of "One Microsoft" where we can build on and share back our work with partners.
Your job on the SI team will be to help design and build an end to end data flow and single pane of glass for viewing real time health for all Commerce properties upon which we can build alerting, monitoring, and predictive analytics. You need to help us follow thousands of transactions a second from Azure based properties to Autopilot to on-prem that go out to the FDC and back in. You need to keep HBI and PCI data in mind. You need to make SI data available near real time where it is easily searchable, easily alert-able, easy to correlate, and easy to understand for everyone from Operations to developers to our VP.
What we're looking for from you:
• 7+ year of software development experience
• C# coding and software design experience
• SQL experience including experience with SQL system design, replication, and redundancy
• Experience with SaaS, PaaS, Cloud computing, and geo-distributed architecture
• Passion for developing highly scalable, highly available services
• Nice to have: Azure, Cosmos (Scope), ETW or AP experience
We need a team member who is capable of seeing the broad picture as well as the precise solutions that make up our extensive charter. We need someone who can communicate well and build relationships with partner teams. Most importantly, we need someone who is passionate about service fundamentals and helping Microsoft build the best possible Commerce solution!
