Description
Project Manager, Rice Fortification in Myanmar Position to be based in Yangon. Myanmar nationals are encouraged to apply. PATH is an international nonprofit organization that transforms global health through innovation. We take an entrepreneurial approach to developing and delivering highimpact, low-cost solutions, from lifesaving vaccines and devices to collaborative programs with communities. Through our work in more than 70 countries, PATH and our partners empower people to achieve their full potential. PATH's mission is to improve the health of people around the world by advancing technologies, strengthening systems, and encouraging healthy behaviors. PATH's Maternal & Child Health/Nutrition Strategic Program (MCHN) is implementing a portfolio of projects to apply effective, innovative approaches to broadening access to and use of key interventions that address maternal and child deaths, poor health, and poor nutritional status. The goals of PATH's LIFT project, a United Nations funded project, are to address food security issues by reducing micronutrient deficiencies in the population, especially children and pregnant women, and improve livelihoods through income generation opportunities. The vehicle for this intervention is rice fortification, a culturally-appropriate and highly cost-effective solution to the pervasive issue of micronutrient malnutrition caused by lack of access to a diversified diet. For the past several years, the Ultra Rice® Project at PATH has focused on establishing successful models of supply and demand for fortified rice to enable early market development and lay the foundation for further growth of the rice fortification field. PATH is seeking a Project Manager with a public health, nutrition and social marketing background, to be located in Yangon to manage an upcoming UNOPS project relating to rice fortification advocacy, production and demand generation. Responsibilities include:
Coordinate all aspects of advocacy and rice fortification policy development with key government ministries, capacity building along the supply chain for fortified rice, and demand generation activities in close consultation with the Ultra Rice HQ team. Drive the work planning, execution, monitoring and assessment with the team and collaborating partners in meeting or revising project schedules, tracking performance, identifying problems, and initiating their resolution. Direct quality assurance activities and manage quality control serving as a liaison with partners involved in product development, production, quality control/assurance and food or manufacturing regulations. Provide technical and program summary reports for internal and external audiences, including reports to the donor, and prepare articles for publication. Prepare and maintain compliance and procedural documentation and conduct audits to ensure compliance with PATH standards and regulatory requirements.
Required Skills
Demonstrated ability to lead teams in health improvement projects in Myanmar, including advocacy, communications and social mobilization aspects. Strong management skills and an approach that is responsive to diverse work styles; experience working in cross-functional and cross-organizational teams. Demonstrated success using tools and techniques to build alliances, sustain advocacy work and help generate demand for nutrition and health improvement products. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in English. Experience working in international organizations/multinational companies required. Experience working with the rice value chain (millers, distributors and farmers) preferred. Proficiency in Burmese strongly preferred. Travel domestically up to 30% annually.
Required Experience
