SAVE THE CHILDREN INTERNATIONAL JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Project Assistant TEAM/PROGRAMME: Health_Malaria GRADE: 5 CHILD SAFEGUARDING: Level 3 – the responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with or access to children or young people. ROLE PURPOSE: Responsible for day-to-day delivery of activities for the effective and successful planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Malaria Control Programme in the Township and villages/wards assigned - in collaboration with the Project Officers and Area Manager, and through supervision of assigned staff. KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
  • Conduct baseline survey and data entry, and assist in design of project activities in line with agreed workplan.
  • Ensure community mobilisation, and facilitate community-based project activities through regular interaction with children and community members, including providing training, guidance and support.
  • Take steps to ensure that the programme benefits the poorest and most disadvantaged children.
  • Supervise and train Outreach Workers.
  • Assist and facilitate capacity building workshops for variety of stakeholders.
  • Assist in procurement of materials, supplies and maintenance of project equipment and repair.
  • Liaise with Township and village authorities, and departmental officials regarding the project activities as necessary.
  • Assist supervisor in preparing township workplan and budget estimation.
  • Responsibility for cash disbursement for assigned project activities.
  • Keep records of activities, and report regularly and as requested on programme progress.
  • Any other duties and tasks assigned by supervisor.
  • Actively support the organisation's efforts towards accountability to beneficiaries, in particular through child participation and complaints & response mechanisms.
  • Participate to emergency responses when required.

  • High school or equivalent education, University Degree is preferable
  • Three years professional working experience, development sector preferred
  • Professional working experience with international organizations preferable
  • Proven team working ability
  • Good communication skills
  • Computer proficiency (or at least willingness to learn)
  • Ability to live and travel in remote locations, and ability to speak local languages
  • Local applicants are preferable
