GFS is responsible for delivering over 200 Microsoft web portals, Live and Online Services around the world including infrastructure, security and compliance, operations, globalization, and manageability. We are looking for a passionate, high energy individual to help build the network that powers the world’s largest online services.
This director position leads a team that contributes to the core network strategy and planning team for Microsoft’s online services infrastructure. Network planning must interact closely with outside vendors to design, develop, and deliver assets for fiber, collocation, peering, and data services across the world. Lead the team sharing knowledge of global networks, technical expertise, and strategic analysis skills in addition to strong negotiation, collaboration, and delivery capabilities. This role requires dynamic personalities who can work successfully in a diverse environment.
Roles & Responsibilities
Collaborate with internal teams to identify and define strategic initiatives to meet expansion and cost reduction needs
Build a team with strategic relationships with vendors and industry experts
Identify opportunities for partnership or expansion
Determine specific routes and deals that meet our requirements
Communicate progress internally and collaborate with network deployment teams.
Skills & Qualifications
BS or BA degree (In lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience).
6 years of experience in networking technologies
Strategic negotiations and/or business development obtaining services from high-technology providers in data center and Internet technologies
Experience Required
BS or BA degree in technology or science
9+ years relevant work experience
Extensive experience with network planning and vendor management
Solid working understanding of domestic and global carrier networks
Strong analysis and problem solving skills
Willing to travel up to 30% of the time
