Project: Emergency Recovery, Rehabilitation and Reintegration Support to Ethnic Minority Areas in Myanmar

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Community Mobilizer will work under the supervision of the township WASH coordinator. He/ She will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Represent the WASH project at the community level: as such, serve as an important conduit for communication between the project and the communities, and will provide on-going feedback, from the communities to the project in order to assist planning and problem solving.
  • Coordinate with the communities in determining mutually convenient times and venues, as well as suitable participants, for project related meetings and activities.
  • Assist the communities to undertake the community needs analysis and to prepare village development plans.
  • Assist villagers in organizing or strengthening of Village WASH Committee (VWC) or similar CBOs.
  • Assist in mobilizing communities and VWC to participate in project activities by motivating, educating and consulting with the community members.
  • Work closely with VWC/village volunteers nominated by the community to facilitate the smooth transfer of knowledge, skills and responsibilities to beneficiaries.
  • Facilitate project activities as required at the village level in accordance with township work plans and in ways consistent with the project strategies.
  • Assist with formal data gathering for planning purposes and for participatory monitoring and evaluation.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Secondary level education
  • Formal technical qualifications are not essential but practical experience and skills in WASH related activities would be an advantage
  • Preferably from the project target township; rural background would be an advantage.
  • Essential attributes will be: respect for the local communities; willingness and ability to work as part of dynamic WASH team, Familiarity with demand driven community-based development approach..
  • Applicants from the target townships and from rural backgrounds; especially women, are encouraged to apply.
