Position Responsibilities
Overall
This role as national coordinator for an ambitious FLEGT project that will involve overseeing and beingdirectly responsible for project field activities. The position will entail coordination of the projectbetween three different project areas (Northern Sagaing, Kachin, Tanintharyi) and head office in Yangon.Other roles will also include close interaction with Government at National and State / Regional levels, aswell as engaging in policy dialogue with a broad spectrum of different stakeholders.
Detailed responsibilities
- Responsible for overseeing and delivering project activities in field, 3 State / Regions and 6townships.
- Responsible line manager for field staff and training and research officer.
- Responsible for coordination between project sites, and head office in Yangon.
- Responsible forfacilitating engagement with Government, especially at National level.
- Responsible of monitoring and evaluation of project activities.
- Position will include collecting andmeasuring data from field coordinator to ensure achievement of key results and outcomesagainst project objectives.
- Work with Project Manager to ensure that all donor reporting is completed in a timely mannerand to a high standard.
- Undertake field visits to monitor progress, oversee activities and liaise with Regional / State level Government as necessary.
- Work closely with Project Manager for detailed quarterly work plan design and budget forecast.
- Provide technical support on policy and strategy to project team, networks and contribute toproject review activities.
- Assist and ensure delivery of national workshops, symposia and trainings.
- Assist with hosting of visitors to the project and if necessary accompany them to the field.
- Any other reasonable duty as directed by the Project Manager.
Required Competencies
The successful candidate should have the following competencies:
- years prior experience or more in coordinator role or similar position.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to utilise these skills in job
- Understand policy landscape relating to forestry and environmental governance in Myanmar
- University degree in Social Science, Environment or Forestry, or other relevant area.
- Masters degree highly desirable in either Social Science, Environment or Forestry, or otherrelevant area
- Fluent Myanmar and strong working knowledge of both spoken and written English.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Proven organisational management and time management skills
- Willing and able to travel to and spend time in project areas.
Terms and Conditions of Position
This is a three-year full-time contracted post. There will be a probation period of three months.
