Medical Technologist (Laboratory) with the Research Group of Tuberculosis and Leprosy under the Centre for Communicable Diseases (Advertisement #366/13)
icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position ofMedical Technologist (Laboratory)with the Research Group of Tuberculosis and Leprosy under theCentre for Communicable Diseases. The appointment will be made on a Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) basis for 6 months, which may be renewable depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
Duty Station – Dhaka
Salary – Tk.25,412/-(consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. No other benefit is admissible.
Job Profile
  • Media Preparation and Quality Control: Prepare different micro-biological culture media; perform sterility control process; report growth control test results of each batch of the prepared media; check and record autoclave tape control of each cycle of sterilization in order to maintain quality of media as per guidelines;
  • Sample storage and record keeping: Receive samples from the field staff to store samples in the laboratory; keep record of available stored samples as per laboratory standard operations procedures; store samples properly and preserve maintaining cold chain for research in order to organize and preserve samples properly in order to maintain quality & inventory;
  • Performing routine tests: Under the guidance of the supervisor, perform smear microscopy (Fluorescence Microscopy and Ziehl–Neelsen) to detect Acid Fast Bacilli (AFB) decontamination and culture (solid and MGIT 960) from pulmonary and extra pulmonary samples, Anti-TB drug susceptibility test,serological test such as ELISA etc.; monitor and track consumption of lab resources; perform research based assigned duties as per direction from supervisor; maintain appropriate bio-safety measures in the assigned laboratory during testing in order to ensure quality lab test in order to maintain routine laboratory work.
Requirements:
Education and Relevant Experience:
  • 3 years Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from recognized institute;
  • 2 years of experience with laboratory routine works.
