Programmer with the Research Group of Enteric Vaccines under the Centre for Vaccine Sciences (Advertisement #368/13)
icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates for the position ofProgrammer with the Research Group of Enteric Vaccines under the Centre for Vaccine Sciences. The appointment will be made on a fixed-term basis for 1 year which may be extended for further period depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
Duty Station – Dhaka
Salary – Annual Tk.506,840/- inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances with other admissible benefits.
Benefits/facilities – 14.8% retirement fund contribution by icddr,b, children allowance @Tk.1,420/- per child per month, medical facilities for dependent spouse and children, group life insurance. Subsidized canteen, transport and daycare facilities subject to availability.
Job Profile:
- Application program and Database Development:Coordinate with researchers to understand the requirements / data needs; Collaborate with scientists to understand the quantity of data required and process-flow of the project; Prepare required document and guide to follow SDLC and data; Finalize the process-flow / programming logic for each problem; Design database and develop program for the project; Develop codes for programming internal inventory system as per directions of Analyst Programmer; Guide team to understand the coding pattern and provide inputs to prepare the coding guidelines; Provide suggestions on new technologies to decrease program development time in order to support development of programs for effective execution of research projects.
- Testing: Install the developed program on PDA / TAB / Smartphone for testing purposes; Conduct trial tests to check for robustness of the program of other programmers and check for accuracy; Prepare the report highlighting the errors; Correct the errors found in order to make error-free programs.
- Support: Train the field assistants and research officers on usage of software and smart phones/TABs; Collect feedback from users on existing programs for any changes required; Make necessary changes; Provide continuous support for user queries on the field; Resolve user queries related to hardware malfunction and interact with vendors for repair in order to reduce productivity loss due to hardware and software issues.
Requirements:
Education and Relevant Experience:
- Graduation in Computer Science preferably Masters in Computer Science with good academic records;
- At least 3 years of experience in software development domain in a reputed organisation;
- Must have working experience in developing applications for Tablet PC/Smartphone under Android environment using JAVA;
- Must have working experience in developing applications using Microsoft Visual C#;
- Preference will be given to those having experience in RDBMS in SQL Server, SQLite database and Microsoft Access database.
