Outlook Web App (OWA) is one of the most innovative and successful web applications ever shipped by Microsoft. OWA has made a huge difference in the daily lives of millions of users all over the world. We are now taking OWA to the next level and building the next generation client that will include world class Messaging, People, Calendaring and social collaboration. This is one of the most exciting times in OWA's rich history. Ten+ years ago this team invented AJAX. The technical challenges and opportunities that we are currently facing are even greater than our past challenges.
Creating the world's leading business web mail experience requires a focused effort on multiple dimensions. Our focus is on building gorgeous addictive UI; industry leading email triage efficiency; and an extensibility platform that turns OWA into a hub for LOB applications and integration of business processes into our client. We are looking for developers that are passionate about great UX, knowledgeable about creating scalable AJAX platforms, and are obsessed with security and performance as a key attribute of their designs. We are faced with many technical challenges that require innovative solutions and designs as we build the next generation of OWA. Feature work will span from the client-side UX in OWA down to how the data is stored in Exchange, and everything in between. Our coding environment on the server is C# and ASP.Net. Our client-side UI is comprised of JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3. In this release we are aiming to build a richer, more immersive client experience than was possible before and to extend that experience to three screens - touch and mouse.
Your Responsibilities include:
- Participation on virtual teams to define new scenarios
- Reviewing functional, design and test specs and ensuring they are sound and complete
- Designing and coding new features as well as maintaining existing codebase
Requirements:
- Strong customer focus and empathy for the end-user.
- A strong UX design sense and passion for building great UI.
- 2+ years of software development experience
