Job Purpose:

Undertakes a variety of accounting duties; carries out administrative functions, as required; maintains and updates accounting records; maintains sound accounting/internal controls; prepares accounting and other reports; and as relevant, contributes towards the preparation of financial statements.

Expected Outcomes
Financial Statements/Reports
• Contributes to the preparation of financial statements and preparing various accounting schedules to support the financial reports.

Accounting Controls and Processing
• Maintains and ensures appropriate, adequate and timely controls in the preparation of accounting data, processing of transactions loan, guarantees, equity investments and treasury products. Reviews and verifies the accuracy, consistency and propriety of supporting documents in compliance with accounting practices, established procedures and guidelines.
• Provides assistance in the reconciliation and resolution of assigned accounts.
• Assist other staff in preparing billing statements and other schedules and reports required as part of the borrowers service function.
• Ensures the maintenance and update of records/reports relating to ADB policies in connection to accounting procedures and guidelines and establishes an existing framework for easy retrieval.

Systems Requirements
• Participates in the implementation of new systems or enhancements of existing systems; ensures the accuracy and reliability of systems; provides suggestions for enhancements/simplifications for effective and efficient operation; proposes changes to existing systems and coordinates the needs of the work area with the Office of Information System and technology (OIST) through the supervisor or International Staff in charge.

Client Relations
• Coordinates and obtains/provides required information in accordance with established procedures in a tactful manner.

Others
• Performs any other assignments as required and reflected in the incumbent’s workplan, including the preparation of draft memoranda and external correspondence for supervisors.

Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or any related field; Certified Public Accountant.

Relevant Experience And Other Requirements:
Work experience
• 3 to 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a computerized environment, in a large organization, preferably in financial institutions.

Technical knowledge
• Proficient with office suite software, particularly MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint, and large accounting software (e.g. Oracle ERP).
• Good understanding of general accounting concepts and principles (US GAAP/IFRS), and their application.
• Good understanding of the interactions between different work areas and relevant work flows and their purpose, as well as business knowledge of relevant areas.
• Good understanding of accounting policies, practices, and reporting requirements for financial instruments
• Ability to understand the concept of internal controls as they apply to financial and accounting process.
• Analytical and systematic, with strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to plan and coordinate schedules in order to meet deadlines.

People and leadership skills
• Able to liaise and work effectively with staff within own work location
• Able to work collaboratively with teams as a constructive team member
• Solid interpersonal skills and good command of written and spoken English
