Description

For the past 50 years Amnesty International (AI) has brought people together to fight for human rights. Robust financial systems enabling the Finance team to provide accurate and timely financial information, and a high quality level of service to the wider organization, therefore play an important role when it comes to the impact of our work. Joining us as the Systems Accountant, you will be the key player in designing, implementing and supporting these systems.
About the role
Using your extensive SUN systems experience, as well as other skills gained from supporting a large global accounting system, you will be responsible for planning and delivering any Finance systems related projects, including the roll out of SUN, iPOS and integration of our new travel and expense system to the newly opened international hubs. In addition, you’ll be expected to regularly review the suitability, efficiency and use of the existing systems and act as the day to day contact with our systems’ suppliers. You will work closely with the IT department to ensure a high level of service delivery to all end users of our systems throughout the London and overseas operations.
About you
In order to be successful in this role you will require extensive and thorough experience in SUN Systems v5 or v6 – including implementation and maintenance of SUN in overseas branches. Your accounting qualifications and background should give you an excellent understanding of financial controls, helping us get the best use out of the systems we have, and identifying where there are gaps in the controls and where we require improvements. Using this experience and other skills (such as SQL) you will be able troubleshoot the majority of issues arising, minimizing reliance on third party support.
Ideally you should have experience in iPOS, or otherwise in an alternative integrated purchase order system, as well as experience of an integrated expenses management system.
You will have project management experience which you will need to draw on from time to time initially when rolling out SUN and iPOS to our overseas offices, as well as when implementing upgrades or new systems software. You should have excellent communication skills, enabling you to deliver training to users in several countries and with varying technical skills, and to build good relationships with your key remote users in the Hub finance teams.
About us
Our aim is simple: an end to human rights abuses. Independent, international and influential, we campaign for justice, freedom and truth wherever they’re denied.
