Organizational Setting and Reporting
Interns will be assigned to one of the News and Media Division's Kiswahili language content producing units for Radio and Web Services and will be supervised by the Chief of the assigned Unit. The News and Media Division produces news and feature stories on multimedia platforms including radio, video, photo and web. The internship is for two months with an opportunity for extension. The internship is unpaid and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
The multimedia intern provides editorial and technical assistance to content producers working in radio and the web. The intern will assist in the production of news stories for various platforms. The intern may also collaborate with staff on social media.

Education
A first-level university degree in humanities, communication or related field.
Applicants must be enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school (second university degree or higher); or if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree; be computer-literate in standard software applications; have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views
Work Experience
No professional work experience required.
Languages
Englis or French are the working languages of the United Nations. For the intership advertised, fluency in oral and written Kiswahili is required; English is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
