OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
The objective of the department of Operational Support and Services is to ensure high quality, consistent and responsive managerial and administrative services to all programmes and staff in headquarters, and where relevant, to all regions and offices of WHO, and to promote an efficient and collaborative customer-oriented working environment to achieve results. The Global Conference and Training Centre, under OSS also manages and supports the delivery of Conference and Training facilities and Services for WHO globally.
Description of duties:
To assist in providing IT support to the Global Conference Training activities as well as WHO facilities housing GCT/Country programme in order to enable Programmes to carry out its plans and related activities.
Under the supervision of the National Professional Officer of GCT, the IT Assistant will undertake the following tasks and responsibilities:
1. Logistic support to the Global Conference and Training Centre (GCT) in Tunis as well as to its training platform based in Hammamet, Tunisia.
2. Provide the necessary IT support and assist in the preparation of WHO/GCT meetings and trainings organized within WHO/GCT premises and its Training Platform.
3. Assist in installing, testing and troubleshoot network equipment and cabling.
4. Assist that workstations, laptops, printers and photocopiers are properly configured and are available via the network. If necessary, assist in proposing new printing solutions.
5. Assist in the performance of system backups and maintenance of workstations and trouble shoot problems.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential:
Completion of primary school education.
Desirable:
Additional relevant training in informatics an advantage.
Complemented by training in the use of standard office software such as MS Word, Excel, Power Point and standard internet applications, etc.
Skills:
The incumbent maintains and updates the knowledge in the use of modern office technology, network equipment, cabling, hardware and software.

Other skills:
Work is performed in a normal office environment. Work requires the use of the standard office equipment, the use of a series of software as well as the installation of hardware and computers.
Experience:
Essential:
At least 2 years' informatics experience, preferably including some experience in WHO to have knowledge of its procedures and practices as related to the work.
Desirable:
Experience in the organization of WHO official meetings an advantage.
Languages:
Expert knowledge of Arabic and intermediate knowledge of French required.
Beginner's knowledge of English an asset.
Additional Information:
