Duties and responsibilities
1. Under the direct supervision of the Head of Field Office (South East) and overall supervision of the
Deputy Representative, the incumbent performs the following duties:
  • Assess, monitor and address the needs of people of concern to UNHCR;
  • Undertake frequent visits to various sites and other areas in order to assess the needs of UNHCR's people of concern, with particular attention to vulnerable groups;
  • Monitor and supervise the implementation of UNHCR assistance and protection programme, infrastructure projects, protection response for vulnerable groups and propose recommendations for improvement;
  • Propose projects, including community development and self-reliance activities, where applicable, in collaboration with authorities, beneficiaries, and partners;
  • Collect base line data and other information relevant to UNHCR and provide analysis for programme planning purposes;
  • Establish trust and constructive working relationship with local authorities, implementing partners, and CBOs for effective implementation of UNHCR's activities;
  • Contribute to the preparation of status and progress reports;
  • Act as interpreter when required and translate documents as needed;
  • Perform other duties as required;
2. Qualifications required
Knowledge and skills: Completion of University Degree preferably in social science, economics, international relations or law, Business or Public Administration or other related field; Strong communication skills (spoken, written and presentation), including the ability to produce written reports in a clear, concise style, to deliver training to external audiences as well as to build and maintain effective partnerships; Team spirit; Cultural sensitivity; Willingness to travel and live in remote field locations; IT, Data management skills.
Experience: A minimum of four years of progressively responsible work experience in the protection field or related field;
Language: Very good knowledge of written and spoken English and Myanmar. Knowledge of any local dialects of the operational area will be an advantage.
