Purpose of the Position
Under the guidance of the Chief National Committee Relations, coordinates and facilitates the relationship with National Committees (NatComs) with the aim of maximizing the potential and effectiveness of UNICEF`s presence in industrialized countries and increasing the contribution of NatComs to the achievement of UNICEF`s global goals. This post is responsible for supporting the Chief NatCom Relations in managing the relationship with Committees through efficient internal and external communication, coordination, qualitative and quantitative analysis and implementing measures to improve the relationship between UNICEF and NatComs. The incumbent gains in-depth knowledge of the NatComs he/she works with in order to provide accurate and up-to-date information and analysis to the Chief NatCom Relations that will lead to the development and delivery of tailored support.
Key Expected Results
1. Facilitates good working relationships and provides strategic support to Committees so that UNICEF maximizes the value of these relationships while preserving the reputation of the organization. End Results: Mutually beneficial and effective relationships with NatComs established and fostered. Two-way communication sustained.
2. Manages the Joint Strategic (JSP) development process and annual JSP review process, ensuring coherent, harmonized alignment of strategic priorities within the JSPs and JSP reviews. Provides quality assurance to JSP and monitors JSP results. Ensures coordination across sections, and between sections and NatComs to optimize and harmonize UNICEF input. End Results: Each National Committee has a Joint Strategic Plan that is fully aligned with UNICEF priorities. Joint Strategic Plans contribute to the achievement of UNICEF`s goals.
3. Performs qualitative and quantitative analysis on a broad range of available data and information, and advises the Chief NatCom Relations on identified issues, opportunities, risks and challenges and recommends required corrective actions. Manages and shares knowledge as appropriate. End Results: Chief NatCom Relations is able to make informed decisions on NatCom related issues.
4. Monitors and coordinates the Cooperation Agreement compliance process and implements agreed actions. End Results: NatComs are compliant with the Cooperation Agreement.
5. Undertakes regular visits to NatCom countries to contribute to discussions and negotiations at mid and senior levels with colleagues in NatComs. End Results: NatComs are knowledgeable of and own UNICEF goals and strategies and adhere to them.
Qualifications of Successful Candidate
- Advanced University degree in any of the following: Business Administration, Economics, Marketing, Fundraising, Public Administration, International Relations. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience, responsible for the management, implementation and execution of services. The post requires extensive international experience and in-depth knowledge of effective, multi-cultural relationship management.
- Excellent presentation and writing skills are required.
- Fluency in English and another UN language. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station would be an asset. Competencies of Successful Candidate
