Technical Advisor, Landscape Conservation Programme, WWF-Greater Mekong The Greater Mekong region is one of the biologically richest places on the planet; its varied natural resources support the livelihoods and well-being of millions of people in mainland Southeast Asia. WWF-Greater Mekong (GM) – on the ground in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam – is working to conserve the region's biodiversity and build a secure and sustainable future for people and wildlife. WWF-Greater Mekong is seeking an experienced Technical Advisor for our regional Landscape Conservation Programme. The incumbent will provide strategic guidance and expert interventions to shape and advance WWF-Greater Mekong's Landscape Conservation Programme, working closely with in-country teams and building and maintaining good working relationships with partners, donors and institutions.
The successful candidate will bring extensive knowledge in landscape conservation, spatial planning, sustainable forestry and aquaculture, and climate change issues, and proven experience in developing project proposals. This position involves periodic travel to all five Greater Mekong Countries: Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam as well as regular interaction and involvement with issues and initiatives of the global WWF network.

Key requirements:
- Master's degree in natural resources management, environmental or conservation biology, development studies, or other relevant technical fields
- Expert knowledge in two or more of the following fields: landscape conservation, spatial planning, sustainable production (forestry, agriculture, and/or aquaculture), and climate change issues
- Knowledge of the realities of development partners, donor institutions, government agencies, and the not-for-profit sector in the region is preferred
- 5 years of practical experience as Chief Technical Advisor for a programme or project of the fields related to landscape conservation, 2 years of which should be in the Greater Mekong Region Proven experience in developing and writing related project proposals to aid agencies, foundations, corporate sector and other individual donors
Experience of working in multi-cultural environment and with key regional and international institutions e.g. ADB, ASEAN, and the Mekong River Commission Demonstrated communication, management, and leadership skills

Major Function
The Landscape Conservation Programme Technical Advisor (CS1 TA) leads in establishing and maintaining the technical foundation and competencies for the WWF-Greater Mekong Landscape Conservation Programme, coordinating fundraising proposals at both the country and regional levels and providing relevant technical support to 5 country offices in their Landscape Conservation related work including work related to spatial planning, natural capital and ecosystem services assessment, forest management, sustainable production, climate change adaptation, corridor management, and ecosystem integrity monitoring. The CS1 TA acts as the focal point for all technical issues related to the Landscape Conservation programme and is responsible for designing, technically leading, and monitoring many elements of the Landscape Conservation Programme workplan. Finally, the CS1 TA also plays a key role in building and maintaining strategic partnerships with external organizations and agencies.
Major Responsibilities 3
A. Programme and Project Development and Implementation
- Produce a succinct positioning paper outlining WWF-Greater Mekong's landscape conservation strategy and links to country programmes Provide technical guidance and support on the development, review and update of Strategies and objectives in the WWF-Greater Mekong Strategic Plan
- Provide support to the Strategy Manager in the development, monitoring, review and update of the strategy activity work plan
- Provide technical support to identify key regional interventions (policy, field and communications) and develop recommendations to deliver on objectives Design technical programme initiatives to support broader strategyrelated goals
- Provide technical expertise to develop and implement of programmes and projects at the regional and country level, including supervision of field-activities where appropriate 20%
B. Technical Support and Capacity Development
- Provide technical expertise to develop and implement of programmes and projects at the regional and country level, including supervision of field-activities where appropriate
- Provide technical support and advice on relevant strategy issues, particularly focusing on facilitating exchange of lessons learned and best practices
- Address other technical matters requested by the country office as time and priorities permit
- Identify competency gaps that relate to landscape conservation for WWF-Greater Mekong and develop the training plan to address these gaps
- Maintain an awareness of staff comments and any complaints to identify areas that may need development or improvement 30%
C. Partnerships, Networking, and Strategic Communications
- Develop and maintain effective contacts with a wide range of external organisations and individuals who might in some way assist WWF in achieving its vision for the region
- Promote WWF's capacity as a reliable, science-based conservation partner with national and regional counterparts
- Advocate as technical expert on behalf of WWF's positions and objectives related to landscape conservation
- Communicate and promote WWF's positions and objectives to the 20% region's conservation community by attending and presenting at relevant meetings and forums
- Work in close coordination with the relevant communications staff of the GMP as well as other communication staff of the WWF network to communicate issues and achievements to defined target audiences
D. Fundraising,
- Lead the coordination of proposal development for funding opportunities both within the network and outside (GAAs, foundations, individuals, etc.) for landscape and strategy proposals under guidance of the Landscape Conservation Programme Manager
- Contribute technical writing and review development at the country and regional level to proposals under 20%
- Screen concepts and proposals for alignment with WWF-Greater Mekong and network objectives as requested
E. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Prepare technical reports on relevant strategy when required
- Provide detailed technical support to the monitoring and evaluation of the landscape conservation strategy

3. Experience
