Background Information - Job-specific
Under the supervision of the ICT development team lead , the successful applicant will be an instrumental resource in the design and support of sustainable software architectures in UNOPS. The applicant will be responsible for all technical standards for UNOPS ICT development projects.
Main areas of responsibility
Drives the development of team technical standards advising on technical standards, including software architecture patterns, standards for library usage, coding practices, etc
Responsible for source code management tools, project management tools and deployment tools
Responsible for driving an improvement process on software quality, including adhearance to Unit testing standards and advising on software testing practices
Collaborating with teams to find optimal architecture approaches for each project, including software transition plans and sustainable solutions for existing tools
Ensuring that system designs have focus on integration and interoperability with internal and external systems
The successful candidate will be given the tools and support to further develop the software development maturity level at UNOPS.

Conduct analysis on technical viability of solutions and provide guidance on delivery of complex programs and projects.
Participate in decision making process around technology tools strategy.
Work with ICT Infrastructure and Enterprise Reporting teams to conceptualize new solutions, recommend technical strategies and help design technical solutions.
Facilitate application of lessons learned and best practices across engagements to minimize risk and maximize value to the users.
Manage and improve software QA process, embedding it in UNOPS existing SCRUM based framework
Perform other duties as required.

Education/Experience/Language requirementsEducation:
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent), in Computer Science or related fields. A combination of first-level university degree with additional work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
At least 5 years of relevant experience in information systems development. Minimum 5 years of experience with ASP.NET. Minimum 2 years experience with architecture planning and IS project management.
Language:
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
