Field Research Officer with Research Group of 'Child Health Services' under the Centre for Child and Adolescent Health (Internal Advertisement #400/13)
icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates (staff members & CSA holders) for the position ofField Research Officer with Research Group of 'Child Health Services' under the Centre for Child and Adolescent Health. The appointment will be made on contractual service agreement basis for 6 months, which may be extended for further period depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
Duty station – Bhuapur, Tangail
Salary – Tk.33, 386/- (consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. No other benefit is admissible.
Job Profile
- Project Implementation
Communicate with Project Research Physician for securing people resources; Plan for field work (allocation of locations and duties, requisitions for logistics / transport / petty cash etc.) and validate with Research Investigator; Provide training/orientation to the drivers of CNG/Tempo, Transport Managers, Welcoming person and CHVs; Monitor and Supervise the Referral & Transport System (e.g. Supervise hubs, observe referral and fill up checklist, monitor referral through review log sheets and call centre report) in order to smooth implementation of the project.
- Project Administration
Identify staff with expiring contracts; Coordinate contract renew process with guidance from supervisor; Coordinate with administration team for procurement of project items; Coordinate with NGOs, GoB, and other external partners for deployment of personnel and resources to field sites in order to support project execution.
- Scientific Analysis and Knowledge Creation
Analyzing data and sharing with team for consensus on research findings; Preparing scientific report and submit to research administration for clearance; Search literature for preparing reference for scientific articles in order to support scientific report.
- People Management
Interview candidates and make hiring recommendations, if required; Promote a spirit of collegiality and gender diversity amongst team members and in the organisation; Encourage team members to collaborate across areas; Address and resolve any diversity related issues; Set goals and conduct appraisals for the team; Set high standards and confront poor performance where needed; Mentor young professionals and prepare them for higher responsibilities; Identify and reward high performers; Recommend promotions; Take appropriate actions to manage poor performance (such as creating Performance Improvement Plans, coaching, job rotations, planning separations from icddr,b) in order to build and develop an engaged and high performing team.
Requirements:
Education and Relevant Experience:
- Masters in any discipline with good academic records;
- 5 years experience in public health projects including 3 years in maternal and child health research;
- Experience of supervision and monitoring of data collection from health facilities and community will be considered as an added advantage;
- Experience in developing training curriculum, training manual, training materials, conduct training;
- Must be willing to stay full-time in Bhuapur and travel to different villages of Bhuapur and Gopalpur sub-district.
Functional Competencies:
- Good knowledge on data collection tools and methodologies;
- Very good knowledge of Ethical Guidelines;
- Good proficiency in using software applications, particularly MS-Office and MS-Excel;
