Education Division
The Education Division of the Inter-American Development Bank (SCL/EDU) is invested in producing the necessary empirical evidence in order to develop sound policy recommendations, monitor the progress of its initiatives, etc. EDU has an important commitment to support Haiti's education sector, among the activities that the Bank has promoted in this sector include relevant data production efforts, such as the school census and school mapping, and the impact evaluation of its main educational projects in the sector.
The intern will be primarily responsible for performing analytical research and providing technical assistance using the available data.

Responsibilities
The intern's activities include, but are not limited, to the following:
  • Review and, when necessary edit, data collection documentation (questionnaires, codebooks, etc.)
  • Perform data cleaning activities, as well as produce descriptive statistics and indicators as required.
  • Participate in a couple of missions to Haiti in order to share with the Government the methodology used to produce descriptive statistics and indicators.
Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree student or equivalent in economics, public policy or related field preferred. Candidates should have a strong quantitative background (econometrics, programming).
Demonstrated Experience:
  • In applied, independent, research at a recognized university, international organization, research center, or government agency.
  • Strong background in econometrics, mathematics, and statistics
  • Experience in applied econometric methodologies
  • Experience with econometric packages such as Stata, Matlab, R, or EViews. Advanced programming level preferred
Languages:Proficiency in either English or Spanish with strong verbal/written communication skills in the second language is required.
Skills:
Motivation for research, and ability to work independently and to participate in research teams. Strong analytical abilities as demonstrated by academic achievement and other personal achievements. Sound knowledge of STATA, PowerPoint and Excel. Good writing skills.
