The Office of Institutional Integrity (OII)
The Office of Institutional Integrity (OII), an independent office of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), plays a key role in leading the IDB Group's integrity efforts. OII has two primary mandates: investigation and prevention of prohibited practices in IDB Group-financed activities. Prohibited practices, as defined by the Sanctions Procedures of the IDB, are Corruption, Fraud, Collusion, Coercion and Obstruction.
To fulfill the first mandate, the Office investigates allegations and presents cases before the adjudicative bodies of the Sanctions System. To fulfill the second mandate, OII designs tools and training materials and provides advice to Operational Divisions within the IDB Group during the identification, assessment and mitigation of integrity and related reputational risks.
Responsibilities
- Provide research support to OII to help it achieve the above indicated objectives.
- To this end, in coordination with the investigative team the Intern will contribute to the review, preparation and update of documentation prepared by OII, with particular focus on assuring accuracy, quality and uniformity of written products such as: fact memos, short case closing reports, reports of investigation, and statement of charges, records of interview, transcriptions and back to office reports, among others.
- Contribute to updating the Case Management System and assist Integrity Officers with maintaining both electronic and hardcopy investigative files.
- Assist in the identification of policies and instruments to prevent prohibited practices, as defined by the policies of the Bank, based on the findings from investigations and other sources.
- Provide assistance and support to anti-corruption activities and collaborate with the preventive team on specific tasks.
Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree student or equivalent in Law - International and Public Affairs
Computer Skills:
MS Excel and database management
Languages:
Proficiency in either English or Spanish with strong verbal/written communication skills in the second language is required.
