The European Investment Fund is seeking to recruit for its Equity Risk and Portfolio Management Division at its headquarters inLuxembourg,
(Senior) Portfolio Manager
Appointment will be made on the basis of a 3 year fixed-term assignment.
Location: Risk and Portfolio Management Department - Equity Risk and Portfolio Management Division (ERPM)
Purpose: The successful candidate will primarily contribute to the portfolio management activity of the ERPM team and accountabilities will evolve along the future development of tasks and responsibilities associated to ERPM's portfolio management activity. In this context, s/he is expected to drive the further development of this activity within the team, in particular in view of developing and implementing comprehensive and efficient approaches for the monitoring and management of a large portfolio of equity fund participations from a top-down perspective.
Reporting line: The (Senior) Portfolio Manager reports to the Head of Equity Risk and Portfolio Management Division.
Responsibilities:
  • Drive, and contribute to, the development, improvement and implementation of best practices, guidelines, procedures and portfolio monitoring and management tools suitable for the specific needs and analysis of EIF's Equity activity, in particular in view of the development of instruments enabling an active portfolio management;
  • Participate in ERPM's contribution to the development of new mandates and equity products within EIF, interact with counterparts inside and outside EIF on all questions related to portfolio monitoring and management;
  • Coach/Supervise less experienced team members participating in the portfolio management activity;
  • Closely follow the evolution of the market environment;
  • If required, support other elements of the ERPM activity as e.g. assessment of risks associated with individual transactions and draft respective independent opinions; provide analytical, research and other professional support.
Qualifications:
  • University degree, preferably in Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related subjects;
  • Minimum 5 years' of relevant professional experience in (i) portfolio management or (ii) risk management in the Private Equity/Venture Capital sector or (iii) direct/Fund-of-Funds investments in the Private Equity/Venture Capital sector;
  • Postgraduate degrees and/or additional professional qualifications (e.g. CFA) would be considered an asset;
  • Excellent knowledge of English, both oral and written. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage.
