Job Title: Research Medical Doctor
Place to work: Remote area in Kayin State
Starting date:URGENT (project should start early October 2013)

Research project
MOCRU will start a malaria research project in 2 villages of Kayin State. The research will include clinical management, laboratory testing and follow ups of uncomplicated malaria patients. Laboratory technician need to do microscopy, and some basic laboratory testing procedures for malaria patients. Quality control team will supervise standard operating procedures and quality of blood smear and laboratory procedures.
General responsibilities
- Management of a research team in one of 2 research clinics
- Communicate with Research manager, Research Principle investigator, local MAM staff
- Leadership in implementation of research clinic and activities
Specific responsibilities:
- Research Clinic setup in 2 villages of Kayin State
- Advocates local village authorities and community
- Case finding and enrolment of research participants
- Medical treatment of research cases and malaria positive cases who are not included in the study
- Genearal health care to the local people
- Supervise laboratory procedures and maintain standard lab quality required for research
- Supervise patient tracers
- Quality control for all research activities, avoids protocol deviation
- Data collection and Data Quality Control (DQA)
- Reporting – progress report, report protocol deviation, severe side effects, deaths
- Supervise maintenance of research materials, lab orderand other medicines and medical equipment
- Manage drug consumption, expiry dates and drug orders
- Supervise storage and transport of blood samples
Requirements:
M.B;B.S
Experience: Research management, clinical management, project management will be an asset
Language: Myanmar, Fluent in speaking, reading English
Specifications:
- Interest and experience in patient care and clinical management
- Eager to learn and improve (clinical) skills.
- Interest in medical research
- Friendly and warm attitude to patients, regardless of race, religion or ethnicity.
- Able to work Independently and able to cope in a new environment and situation
- Has good team spirit, able to lead and manage a medical team involving laboratory technician, logistician, tracers and clinic cleaner
- The applicant should be hard working and able to work with flexible in working hours.
- Commitment for a minimum of 1 year.
