Purpose of the Position
The Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) section within PFP works with National Committees and UNICEF country offices to maximize income and drive income growth. There are five units within the PSFR section. The purpose of the Corporate Fundraising team is to drive income growth from the corporate sector, as part of an integrated corporate engagement strategy. Income growth will come from two sources: supporting countries to develop and strengthen their corporate fundraising capacity and skills and through the proactive development of new partnerships by the PFP Corporate Fundraising unit. In addition, the unit will drive the development of product-based fundraising providing technical support to countries that continue in-house cards and products businesses as well as developing licensing opportunities. Under the general guidance of the Corporate Alliances Manager (P4), this position will work with countries to develop local fundraising strategies as well as identify and develop new major Corporate Alliances to support UNICEF programmes priorities and contribute to UNICEF`s Resource Mobilization efforts. The post also is responsible for ensuring the review and processing of proposals for national and multi-country alliances.
Key Expected Results
1. Under the guidance of the Corporate Alliances manager, works with countries to assess the opportunity for corporate fundraising in their market and develop local strategies. Works with countries to conduct relevant research and assessment in order to develop local fundraising strategies. Proactively identifies, negotiates and develops new alliances with the corporate sector and develops signature UNICEF programmes based on local fundraising strategy. Key End Results: Local strategies are developed and implemented to ensure that opportunities for corporate fundraising are pursued efficiently and effectively. Income targets are realized.
2. Coordinates submissions of alliance proposals (national and multi-country) for review and sign off by the Corporate Alliances Manager, Chief of the Section or other senior staff as relevant. Key End Results: Quality local alliances which secure income and are in alignment with policy and guidelines. Consultation is secured from participating countries. Opportunities for growth are secured and risk is managed appropriately.
3. Develops draft agreements for the development of alliances with the corporate sector, with UNICEF senior legal advisor. Key End Results: Agreements are in place for alliances with the corporate sector.
4. Identifies, recruits and supervises technical resources and consultants as necessary for the above activities. Key End Results: Recruitment of external resources are done in accordance with guidelines. External resources are managed appropriately in order to secure best results.
5. Manages the section's information and communication resources relating to national and multi-country alliances e.g. intranet site, proposal development tools and resources. Key End Results: Information on alliances is updated to facilitate optimal knowledge sharing.
Qualifications of Successful Candidate
- Academic qualifications: Advanced university degree in Business Management, Marketing, sponsorship or equivalent. A first university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Work Experience: Minimum five years of relevant work experience in fundraising, marketing, or sponsorship, as well as experience in corporate fundraising. Ideally at least one year in developing countries.
- Language requirements: Fluency in English required, another UN language highly desirable.
