An Analyst/Associate Banker is required to work in a role dedicated to EBRD's business in the sector Financial Institutions (FI) and Micro-Finance Institutions (MFI) in Kosovo; in particular, this role will be responsible for overseeing the existing portfolio of EBRD with Kosovo's banks and micro-finance enterprises, as well as working on the projects' pipeline in this sector. Republic of Kosovo is a Member and a Country of Operations of EBRD since end 2012. EBRD (or the 'Bank') currently has €38 million of total outstanding portfolio to the private sector in Kosovo, of which approximately €11 million to local banks and micro-finance enterprises. Recently signed projects include the €12 million Kosovo Sustainable Energy Project (KoSEP) with TEB, AfK and KrK, as well as an equity participation in Banka per Biznes. Further initiatives are in development, such as the extension of the KoSEP and a potential Agriculture Facility for the FI sector. Big part of the Bank's portfolio and pipeline work in the sector in Kosovo is being conducted from the Resident Office (RO) of the Bank in Pristina in close co-operation with the Sector Team 'Financial Institutions', based in London. The key focus of the role will be on portfolio management of the Bank's exposure in the FI/MFI sector in Kosovo, with specific focus on financial analysis, compliance monitoring and regular reporting to the EBRD headquarters in London. Further tasks will include developing and implementing the Bank's pipeline of projects in the sector in Kosovo. Special responsibility will be assigned to financial modelling and analysis but the Analyst/Associate Banker will be expected to participate in all aspects of project development and implementation. The role can progress to more complex aspects of transaction processing, progressively gaining more responsibilities, including directly liaising with clients, developing the future pipeline of the Bank and contributing to the structuring of transactions. The role will be based in Pristina RO and will report to the Head of Pristina RO. Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
This role is to provide support to the project preparation process and to the management of the Bank's existing portfolio of projects in the FI/MFI sector in Kosovo under the direct and continuous supervision from Operation Leaders, based in the Bank's Resident Office in Pristina, Kosovo. This will include:
  • Market and financial analysis of institutions and projects, preparing and updating financial models and financial projections.
  • Research and analysis of background information of companies, sectors, market trends, legal developments. Analysis of financial statements and project related information.
  • Monitoring of investments, in compliance with the Bank's requirements and Policies and compiling of monitoring reports.
  • Contacts with clients, continuous follow-up of the implementation and performance of investments/projects.
  • Administrative and analytical support in specific areas of project generation; attending meetings with clients with more senior bankers, preparation of client call reports.
  • Promotion of EBRD's activities in the sector and contribution to project identification and generation; preparation of investment proposals.
  • Provision of input to the Head of Pristina RO for setting priorities and annual project targets for the sector in Kosovo.
Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications
  • Relevant degree from a leading university in the country of education (e.g. business administration, economics, finance). Strong analytical and financial background.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience for Associate Banker and 3 years for Analyst, preferably in Kosovo or Albania - from major international financial institution, business advisory or public agency, where he/she must have acquired high level analytical skills and demonstrable expertise in supervising and supporting operations in the banking and the MFI sector.
  • Accountancy and credit analysis skills: ability to interpret accounts, understanding of accounting principles and practice of credit analysis.
  • Financial analysis skills: ability to design financial models and to participate in the financial engineering and structuring of investment projects.
  • General analytical skills: ability to analyse macro-economic situation, sector and market trends, legal framework, other background information, report writing skills.
  • Communication skills: experience and attitude for effective client relationships.
  • Computer literacy: Conversant with Microsoft Office and spreadsheet packages including financial analysis models.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Albanian & Serbian languages are a plus.
