Background

Duties and Responsibilities
Functions / Key Results Expected

Summary of Key Functions:
1. Being LGBT in Asia initiative:
• Engage and build working relationships with LGBT organizations and advocates
• Follow up the recommendation and plan of action from the National LGBT dialogue that happened in Nusa Dua, Bali. 
• Assist the Programme Manager on LGBT and Human Rights work in coordination with partners and stakeholders
• Assist the Programme Manager on LGBT and Human Rights work in the development of new media tools that are innovative, replicable and impactful while generating learning and knowledge related to the human rights of LGBT people
• Disseminate knowledge, multimedia and new technology products and resources amongst LGBT, human rights and other civil society or development organizations
2. Democratic Governance, Human Rights, and HIV Work:• Pro-active in providing insight and counsel to the Programme Manager from the LGBT perspective and point of view on the activities that will be implemented by the Democratic Governance, Human Rights and HIV team
• Pro-active in participate and contribute in the concept and/or implementation level in other project activities
• Pro-active in representing the LGBT communities and raise any issues and concerns from the community perspective to the meeting in areas outside the Being LGBT in Asia initiative 
• Based on the agreement with the Programme Manager to develop the Professional Development Process on other areas in addition to the Being LGBT in Asia initiative  
• Assist the any programmatic and administrative work on the activities being implemented in addition to the ‘Being LGBT in Asia’ initiative
Impact of Results

• Recommendation and Plan of action from the National dialogue conducted
• Participation, contribution and assistance to the activities under the Democratic Governance, Human Rights and HIV heading 
• Advocacy materials developed and distributed
• A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed.

    Required Skills and Experience
     
    Recruitment Qualifications
     

    Education: • High School Diploma with more than 7 years of experience; preferably a bachelor’s degree in social sciences or other relevant field; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of this 
    Experience: • Experience in programme administration/coordination
    • Experience working with NGO/CSO/GO on human rights issues
    • At least 22 years old
    • Understanding of and links with the LGBT community groups and activists and human rights protection and/or advocacy experience
    • Experience working with NGO/CSO/GO on human rights issues
    • Able to work with a team and independently 
    • Possess a willingness to learn in new areas of work 
    Language Requirements: 
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Indonesian
