The Myanmar Peace Center (MPC) has been established on 26 October 2012 to serve as the Secretariat to the Union Peace-making Central Committee and the Union Peace-making Work Committee. MPC will also serve as a focal point for international partners and civil society organizations on issues related to the peace process. The Outreach and Public Diplomacy is established to communicate and engage with the public for developing public support and participation in the peace process in order to build the sustainable peace. Qualification/Requirement
- University degree or equivalent of related field.
- Proven experience in translation and interpretation of English & Myanmar.
- Good command of written and spoken English and Myanmar Languages
- Ability to use standard application software (MS Word) and Internet Applications
- Basic Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication in the English Language.
- Must have basic knowledge of political, social science and development terminology.
- Any experience of working in peace building related jobs is preferred.
- Knowledge of any other language would be an asset
- Able to work with flexible working hours in shift
- Able to work in a multicultural environment, travel domestic & oversea trips if it is necessary
- Energetic, creative, and good service attitude
- Able to work independently with problem solving skills
- Able to work with team
Job Description
- Under the direction of the program officers, performs interpreting/ transliterating services of oral and/or written communication between English and Myanmar (If possible, 3rd language is also preferred).
- Provide interpreting/ transliterating services for staff for meetings, interviews, telephone calls, trainings, etc
- Translates orally or in writing the documents/ news/ books as assigned.
- Utilize equipment such as computers, printers, copy machines, fax machines as well as basic computer software.
- Review translated material for accuracy of meaning, grammar and syntax.
- No supervisory responsibility.
- Considerable knowledge of office practices, procedures and equipment
