Job Description
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is seeking to enhance its security engagement capacity by hiring a Technical Engagement Manager. The Technical Engagement Manager will be responsible for DNS training and capability building initiatives with regional partners and stakeholders. The successful candidate will work in close partnership with managers from Global Stakeholder Engagement, DNS Ops, IT, IANA, and other operational teams, representing ICANN in efforts to support a healthy, stable and resilient Internet ecosystem.
The Technical Engagement Manager will also support initiatives related to Security in the regional strategies.
Job activities include:
  • Support Security team objectives and priorities in technical matters.
  • Monitor, identify and analyze Internet related developments, public policy issues and trends, and impact on strategy in support of Global Stakeholder Engagement and Security, in alignment with the regional engagement strategies and community requests.
  • Support the organization's technical work in region, including internal coordination and external partnerships.
  • Engage in local, regional and international technical dialogues, including strategy to address issues affecting the organization.
  • Work in partnership with appropriate internal organizations to develop and carry out educational and outreach activities.
  • Support disciplined communications and reporting system between the regions and the organization on issues and events relevant to ICANN's responsibilities.
  • Organize Security-related, events, workshops or attend those representing ICANN and support RIR community
  • Help with workshops executed in developing countries raise the awareness in DNSSEC community.
  • Maintain favorable relations with local and regional media, stakeholders, employees and the general public.
  • Represent the organization in a specific region, maintain area expertise, prepare and give speeches, reports, briefs, presentations and media releases.
  • Maintain and expand network of all stakeholders in the region, including governments, Internet industry, and media and communications professionals.
  • Strengthen stakeholder engagement and participation, specifically government, business, technical and civil society related to security, stability and resiliency of the Internet's unique identifiers.
  • Engage with regional and international intergovernmental forums.
  • Direct organizations policies and objectives in the region.
  • Identify public policy influences, political issues, trends, that impact organizations work.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must have excellent communication skills including fluency in English with multi-lingual skills strongly preferred.
Required Experience
  • * BA or BS in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in working with DNS technical systems
  • Demonstrated experience in training and educating
  • * Experience working cross-functionally and building collaborative working relationships
  • * Prior international experience preferred.
