Microsoft’s Online Services Security & Compliance (OSSC) Security Engineering and Operations team is seeking a motivated and self-driven Systems Engineer to engineer and support a complex set of security tools used to evaluate and secure Microsoft’s online presence. In this position you will work as part of the team responsible for supporting our Security Monitoring, Vulnerability Scanning, and Compliance Scanning Infrastructure which allows Microsoft Online Services to maintain a peak level of performance and availability, helping to ensure quality of service and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Contribute to next generation of Security Monitoring Infrastructure, Vulnerability Assessment systems, Security Events Management and Analysis, Event Log Management, Data Archival, and Identity Management.
- Support existing online environment and drive requirements and delivery of new solutions within the Global Foundation Services environment that comply with all organizational security and business continuity requirements.
- Identify technology gaps and resolve complex technical issues and drive enhancements that increase the efficiency, performance, reliability, capacity, and functionality of existing systems.
- Write Technical Documentation and Troubleshooting guides.
- Monitor, respond and resolve operational issues and service-interrupting incidents.
- Manage new and existing security systems deployments (releases, hot fixes, etc.).
- Automate routine, recurring, or large scale tasks.
- Collaborate across team and organizational boundaries to help drive the resolution of identified security issues.
Skills and Qualifications:
Candidates must have a sharp eye for detail, work well independently and within a team, have excellent communication skills, demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills, have an in-depth knowledge of operational issues that can affect medium to large scale server infrastructures, the passion to undertake the design and deployment of complex security systems, and understanding what it means to own a system end-to-end.
Technical skills must include:
- Strong background and understanding of Windows system administration
- Strong knowledge of Windows Domain structures including Trust levels, multi-forest domains, Organizational Units, Authentication, etc.
- Deep scripting and programming capabilities in C# and PowerShell
- Intermediate to expert SQL query development capability
Experience Required:
- BA/BS in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent work experience
- 7+ years of experience in technical services, operations, and programming
- 7+ years of experience in Windows platform including exposure and direct experience with: IIS, SQL/TSQL, Active Directory, Kerberos & NTLM Authentication protocols.
