Main Objectives The Medical Officer (MO) is responsible for supervision and monitoring of the primary health care (PHC), maternal and child health care activities (MCH) and other health projects in close collaboration with the other members of the medical team of the project. The MO works under the supervision of the Project Medical Officer (PMO) if any and under the responsibility of the Head of Base (HoB). Activities 1) Supervision and monitoring of PHC, MCH and RH activities
  • Assist the Project Medical Officer in designing, organizing and implementing the health activities
  • Conduct consultations and home-based care of patients if necessary
  • Supervise and supports the clinical staff on the field: nurses supervisors and nurses
  • Supervise laboratory and pharmacy activities in PU-AMI Health Structures
  • Monitor the running of activities in health structures supported by PU-AMI
  • Manage the PU-AMI mobile / outreach team if any and monitor the activities.
  • With the other members of the medical team and assist and collaborate in production of tools and guideline in line with YGN medical coordination
  • Informs the PMO and the HoB of the weakness/difficulties of the different activities/staffs
  • Follow up the drug consumption and the rational prescription done by the nurses in collaboration with the nurses supervisor / Apply a rational use of the drugs
  • Prepare monthly and internal order forms for the necessary medical equipment for activities
  • Inform the PMO and the HoB of any outbreak in the region and help in organizing appropriate response
  • Inform the PMO and the HoB of the emergency referral and provide him/her with the necessary information to proceed 2) Overall supervision of the health structures:
  • Ensure quality health care provision in health structures by making regular field supervision visits.
  • Supervise the nurses in their clinical supervision and on job trainings at the health structures and provide support to them
  • Ensure the good management of the health structures including pharmacy, waste management
  • Apply international standardized guidelines and PU-AMI protocols for diagnosis and treatment of patients / Ensure proper implementation and the use of tools, protocols and guidelines in health structures and mobile clinic / Maintain clinic hygiene and equipment standards to a high level in accordance with best practices especially in the Clinics 3) Report /meeting and planning:
  • Plan, Collect, and send the data to the data manager
  • Plan the monthly activities
  • Write a monthly report to the PMO if any and the HoB
  • Attend and participate to the medical meetings, base meetings, medical workshop and trainings

4) Training
  • Identify medical training needs of clinic staffs
  • implement and conduct directly training of the medical staffs (5) Relations and reporting
  • Record epidemiological data, follow up medicines consumption
  • Assist the project medical officer in analyzing data and preparing the monthly reports as necessary
  • Keep good relationship and strong collaboration with PU-AMI staffs and other implementing partners
  • Participate in board meeting and clinical case discussions for difficult case management, and also participation in general team meeting and meeting with partners 6) Other
  • Assist PMO and HoB in analysis of epidemiological situation and follow up of project indicators
  • Supports the Medical Coordinator (Med Coord) in regular theoretical/on job trainings and TOT to the medical staff as required
  • Could occasionally represent the HoB on his/her request Requirements: Degree: Doctor, MBBS Experience: 2 years of experience in a similar position, experience in an INGO will be an asset Language: Burmese and English compulsory, Chinese would be an asset High motivation for clinical and management work Able to live and work in remote area Application from all origins, religion, gender and age are encouraged to apply.
