Background / General description
The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, promotes sustainable private sector investment in developing countries as a means to reduce poverty and improve people’s lives. Private Equity and Investment Funds is a product group within IFC’s Financial Markets Department, which invests in private equity and other investment funds in IFC’s target markets. Fund investments support and complement IFC’s direct investments to achieve its strategic objectives in the target markets. IFC is recruiting an Investment Analyst for its private equity fund investments in the Europe, Middle East and North Africa (“EMENA”) Region.
Duties and Accountabilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Analyze historical and projected financial statements;
  • Conduct industry and market research, and assist in IFC’s business development efforts;
  • Review private equity funds information and prepare internal reports based on periodic financial statements, project progress reports, and other information submitted by clients;
  • Create financial models;
  • Prepare documentation for IFC internal processes;
  • Establish and maintain client relationships to ensure responsive client service and to enhance new business opportunities;
  • Participate in investment negotiations; and
  • Participate in the monitoring of existing investments in portfolio companies
     
    Selection Criteria
  • Bachelor's or equivalent from a reputable university; preferably with major in accounting, economics or finance;
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a reputable institution in an Analyst role for investment or corporate finance, or 2 years consulting experience with an established consulting firm;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, sound business judgment to identify issues, and present creative and practical solutions;
  • Facility to work successfully in multicultural teams and across boundaries;
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills;
  • Strong client service orientation with an openness to feedback and new ideas; and
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
