We are looking for a Principal Hardware Engineer to help build the network that powers the world’s largest online services
We are seeking a senior candidate with strong systems architecture experience who can work with Microsoft’s various cloud services teams to develop concepts and designs for the next generation of cloud server infrastructure.
We are seeking a senior candidate with strong BIOS development experience who can work with Microsoft’s various cloud services teams to develop UEFI feature and tools for the next generation of cloud server infrastructure. The candidate will work closely with architects across several disciplines in GFS and BGs (datacenter, performance, power, networking, storage, OS) and relevant counterparts at OEM/ODM suppliers. The team is currently defining a ground-up new system architecture for large scale cloud services, and we need strong candidates to help UEFI/BIOS development to drive technology evolution for the future of the cloud. Candidate will have significant impact in influencing industry direction for cloud specific customizations in server UEFI security, bare-metal provisioning, RMA, and diagnostics.
Experience Required:
• 10+ years of experience in Server UEFI/BIOS development. Needs to have lead server UEFI/BIOS designs in all phases including requirements gathering, design and development.
• B.Eng./B.S in Computer engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience working at OEMs or with ODMs is a plus
• Candidate must have deep understanding of computer architecture, memory subsystem, networking, solid state and rotational storage and storage hierarchies.
• Candidate must be familiar with Server hardware lifecycle, software lifecycle, and working with ODMs to port and bring servers. In particular, the candidate should have demonstrable experience of shipping actual server products.
• Candidate must have great communication skills and be able to develop strong rapport with BG partners.
• Self-motivated individual, must be able to work collaboratively in team environment and across divisions (BGs, MS-Research) and industry (OEM, ODM), demonstrated technical leadership in driving successful product designs
