Organizational Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-HABITAT, is the United Nations
agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote
socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all. UN-HABITAT has recently opened its new office for Arab Cities in Kuwait. The office aims at supporting the Agency activities in Kuwait and other Arab Cities. The position is located in UN-HABITIAT Office in Kuwait City in the United Nations House, Mishref.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chief, Kuwait Office, the incumbent will perform the
following functions:1. Provide support with respect to the preparation of project document
and budgets.2. Coordinate actions related to the administration of office and prepare,
maintain and updated files (electronic and paper) and internal databases.3. Assist with the
organization of conferences, workshops, seminars, UN-Habitat Headquarters' missions and
meetings; Prepare preliminary budget, invitation letters, book conference/meeting facilities
and accommodation for participants keeping all records of expenditures in compliance with
UN rules and regulations.4. Assist with the recruitment of consultants including completion
of personnel action form and verification of documentation required to process this in a timely manner.5. Draft and prepare correspondence and ad-hoc reports as required.6. Perform other administrative duties including arranging staff travel, maintenance of equipment and submission of inventory report.7. Liaise and coordinate with UN-Habitat Headquarters on administrative and financial issues.8. Liaise and coordinate with United Nations Recreation Center and United Nations Development Programme in Kuwait on
administrative, financial, preparation of UN ground pass and extension of Laissez-Passer.9.
Liaise and coordinate with national ministries, organization and administration as required.10.
Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Education
Completion of secondary education or equivalent is required. Additional technical training in office administration, project management or other related field is highly desirable.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressive responsible experience in programme management,
administrative services, finance, accounting or related area.
Languages
English and French are the official working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
For this position fluency in written and oral English and Arabic is
required. Knowledge of another United Nations Language is an advantage.
Assessment Method
Evaluation of qualified candidates for this position may include a substantive assessment
which may be followed by a competency-based interview.
