Organizational Setting and Reporting
Under the general guidance of the Acting Chief, Procurement Management Section, and the direct supervision of the Team Leader, Vendor Registration & Management Team, the incumbent will work as resource person in activities related to the Vendor Management process, in particular the registration and evaluation of new potential suppliers. The incumbent will participate in the team meetings and in the brainstorming exercises for discussing issues and identifying solutions and opportunities of enhancements. The internship is UNPAID and FULL-TIME. Interns work five days per week.
Responsibilities
Main activities will include, but not limited to, the following:
Assisting in the registration of new vendors;
Assisting in contacting vendors and supporting them in the finalization of their request;
Assisting in managing vendor databases;
Sending communications to vendors;
Participating in team meeting;
Conducting research on best practices and potential solutions to identified issues;
Preparing reports and statistics; and
Other related initiatives and activities.
The incumbent will be coached by the officers who will support him/her in learning how to carry out these activities. He/she will learn the functionalities of the common portal of Procurement of the United Nations, the UN Global Marketplace (www.ungm.org), as well as he/she will use other Information Technology applications used by the Procurement Division.

Education
Applicants must be enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school (second university degree or higher); or if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree, preferably in the area of Architecture or Engineering, (Computer Science, Information Management Systems or related field).
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the
internship programme. However, applicants are encouraged to list all relevant work
experience in their UN personal history profile (PHP).
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the
internship advertised, fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of
another United Nations language (French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian and Spanish) is an
advantage.
