Organizational Setting and Reporting
The Programme Planning and Partnerships Division/Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Section internship is for 3-6 months with an opportunity for extension, if required by the division.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
The main function of the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Section is enhancing relationships of ESCAP with current and potential partners and donors, including through joint strategizing, planning and brokering roles.
Responsibilities
The intern will assist the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Section of the Programme Planning and Partnerships Division with the following tasks:
  • Update country donor profiles and compile ESCAP donor statistics overview for the online ESCAP Donors systems.
  • Conduct research and compile ESCAP case stories on results delivered through technical cooperation projects with different partners.
  • Help organize donor-related events.
  • Help with updating ESCAP's website dedicated to partnerships and resource mobilization.
  • Assist with designing and preparing various information materials, briefs, and presentations for the senior management of ESCAP.

Education
Applicants to the United Nations internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
  • be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
  • be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or
  • have graduated with a university degree (first university degree, or second university degree or equivalent, or higher) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.
Work Experience
Applicants
  • are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme;
  • shall be computer literate in standard software applications;
  • have demonstrated a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
  • have demonstrated the ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Languages
  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
  • Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required for the Internship Programme.
  • Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
