The United Nations Department of Field Support, Information and Communications Technology Division (UN DFS-ICTD) is responsible for the delivery of applications that satisfy the requirements of the Departments of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support (DPKO/DFS) missions as well as Special Political Missions (SPMs). DFS has implemented a range of systems to address the principal requirements of peacekeeping operations and to support and enhance the processes DFS undertakes. One of the systems that have been place missions wide is for managing missions' public content. In keeping with the latest technology DFS-ICTD has approved the full technology upgrade of the underlying system. UNOPS has been requested to assist in the implementation of this activity. Under the direction of the ICT Project Manager the incumbent will be required to perform the following duties:
Functional Responsibilities
  • Provide general administrative support, make arrangements for meetings, and maintain/update files/records;
  • Compile, summarize and present basic information/data on specific project related issues;
  • Draft routine correspondence, reports and other documents
  • Assist the project managers in reviewing and maintaining documentation in support of current project initiatives
  • Assist in the drafting of technical documents including vision and requirement documents, standard operating procedures, user guides and manuals, process documentations, workflows, and special reports;
  • Assist with the preparation of guidelines for format and style for documents in order to ensure consistency across all deliverables;
  • Liaise with UNLB, UNSB-V and UNESB as well as field missions;
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Education/Experience/Language requirementsEducation:

  • Experience in writing various types of technical documentation such as standard operating procedures and user guides is desirable.
  • Knowledge of MS Office is required.
Language:
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Knowledge of a second UN language such as French and Arabic is highly desirable.
