Job: Jr. Consultant - Research Department

The Research Department (RES) seeks applications from recent university graduates who are interested in a position supporting a multidisciplinary team in the preparation of an App for the Research Department. Interested applicants should be highly qualified and motivated to perform a wide range of research and dissemination activities, including building databases, reviewing bibliography, preparing material for info graphics, reports, and presentations. He or she is required to have excellent personal skills to facilitate the coordination of the project.
Consultancy Objective(s) / Activities
The Project Assistant's main tasks are supporting ongoing preparation/analysis of databases on macroeconomic and microeconomic areas. The Project Assistant will gather and transform data as needed. He or she will also would verify accuracy of the data and apply various consistency checks to ensure the veracity of the data. Finally, the Project Assistant will support all coordination activities related to the preparation of data for the App and will perform research tasks for the Chief Economist when needed.
Schedule of Payments Payments will be processed twice monthly.Coordination Carlos Andres Gomez-Peña, communcations Associate at the Research Department will coordinate the Project Assistant's work.Characteristics of the Consultancy

Qualifications
  • Academic Degree and Years of professional experience: Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, computer science, or related field. Two years of Professional experience building and managing databases.
  • Language : Spanish and English
  • Areas of expertise : The candidate should be comfortable gathering data from the following databases: Household surveys, International Finance Statistics, Latinobarómetro, World Development Indicators, World Economic Outlook, among others.
Payment and Conditions of Employment: If the work will be carried out at Bank headquarters in Washington D.C. Remuneration will be determined in accordance with Bank regulations and criteria. The Bank will additionally contribute toward travel and moving expenses, if applicable. If a candidate is not a citizen or resident of the United States, the Bank will apply for a G-IV visa from the consulate of the United States in the candidate's country of origin. If a candidate cannot obtain a visa to work at the IDB the contractual offer will be rescinded. --- Individuals with relatives working for the IDB within and including the fourth degree of consanguinity and the second degree of affinity are not eligible. This includes staff members and consultants. Candidates must be citizens of a member country of the Inter-American Development Bank.
