Job: Internship Notice Winter term 2013-2014

Principal functions
1. The OPCW offers internship opportunities to highly motivated and curious students with an interest in gaining work experience in an international organisation. The programme provides internship placements at the Technical Secretariat for a period of between three to six months. Being an intern with the OPCW provides valuable experience in a multi-cultural working environment and enables familiarisation with the operational procedures of decision-making at an international level.
Additional Information
2. A monthly stipend of รข‚¬ 450 will be paid to participants of the Internship Programme only to cover expenses in The Hague, provided that the intern is not a child of an OPCW staff member or delegate to the Conference of States Parties. Payment is subject to monthly certification of service by the intern's supervisor.
3. Participants in the Internship Programme receive no financial remuneration from the OPCW for expenses that they incur in relation to the programme. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, living expenses are the responsibility of the Participant.
4. Participants are required to provide HRB proof of medical insurance coverage for the period identified in their agreement with the OPCW.
5. Interns are expected to fit in with the normal working pattern of the OPCW which will amount to no more than 40 hours a week.

7. Applications must be submitted electronically by completing the Personal History Form. Upon request short-listed applicants may be required to submit additional information on their educational/academic records.
Knowledge and skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent diploma of secondary education.
  • Enrollment in a university or have graduated with a degree in the previous twelve months at the time of application to the programme.
  • Citizens of Member States of the Organisation.
  • Availability for approximately 3 to 6 months.

  • Internships for the Winter Term are generally available as of January 2014, subject to operational need, placements are offered in:
  • External Relations Division - Government Relations and Political Affairs Branch, Media and Public Affairs Branch, Protocol and Visa Branch;
  • International Cooperation and Assistance Division - Assistance and Protection Branch, International Cooperation Branch, Implementation Support Branch;
  • Administration Division -Human Resources Branch, Training, Development and Results-Based Management Branch/Library;
  • Office of the Legal Adviser; . OPCW Laboratory; . Office of Strategy and Policy;
  • Secretariat for the Policy-Making Organs;
  • Other offices as needed.
Languages
Fluency in English is essential and a good working knowledge of one of the other official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish) is desirable.
