Organizational Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Procurement Management Section (PMS)/ Procurement Division, Office of Central Support Services Management, Department of Management. PMS provides administrative, financial and data management support for the Procurement Division.
The Procurement Division internship is for two (2) months with an opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the Division.
The internship is UNPAID and full-time.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the Department or Office to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the acting Team Leader, Procurement Management Section, the Intern will assist PMS in its daily operations and learn basic administrative functions in an international organisation environment. In particular, the Intern will:
Administer database records pertaining to file registry, analyze data, maintain data integrity.
Assist staff members in retrieving and archiving case files
Assist in front desk duties and directing visitors entering and exiting UN/PD as appropriate
Provide general office support (processing, drafting and finalizing correspondence and other communications)
Assist in general administrative tasks and related duties as required

Education
Applicants must currently be enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school (second university degree or higher) in Business Administration (MBA), Information Management or related fields; or if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least fours years of full-studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a degree.
Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Work Experience
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme. The position will be suitable for a person with little to no experience in either administration or information management but is willing to learn all facets of the business in order to achieve outcomes in a timely manner. The incumbent will be coached by the officers who will support him/her in learning how to carry out these activities.
Languages
Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of other UN official languages is an advantage.
