Field Research Officer with Research Group of 'Childhood Immunization' under the Centre for Child and Adolescent Health (Internal Advertisement #419/13)
icddr,b invites applications from suitable candidates (staff members & CSA holders) for the position ofField Research Officer with Research Group of 'Childhood Immunization' under the Centre for Child and Adolescent Health. The appointment will be made on contractual service agreement basis for 6 months, which may be extended for further period depending on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.
Duty station – Matlab
Salary – Tk.33, 386/- (consolidated) per month inclusive of house rent and conveyance allowances. No other benefit is admissible.
Job Profile
- Project Implementation
Understand research protocol and data collection techniques from Research Investigator; Train field staff on data collection methods specific to the project; Provide instruction and guidance to field staff during implementation; Receive samples and demographic data about the samples from field staff; Check data for accuracy; Provide samples to labs for testing; Write reports and share with relevant partners (e.g. researchers, GoB,) Report findings to Medical Officer r in order to collect, test and analysis data related to the research project.
- Project Administration
Identify staff with expiring contracts; Coordinate contract renew process with guidance from supervisor; Coordinate with administration team for procurement of project items; Coordinate with NGOs, GoB, and other external partners for deployment of personnel and resources to field sites in order to support project execution.
- Scientific Analysis and Knowledge Creation
Share ideas on how to analyze the data with researchers; Coordinate with CSU to arrange logistics for seminars; Invite community members to attend; Provide inputs to supervisor for creating presentations in order to contribute to the creation and dissemination of knowledge.
- People Management
Interview candidates and make hiring recommendations, if required; Promote a spirit of collegiality and gender diversity amongst team members and in the organisation; Encourage team members to collaborate across areas; Address and resolve any diversity related issues; Set goals and conduct appraisals for the team; Set high standards and confront poor performance where needed; Mentor young professionals and prepare them for higher responsibilities; Identify and reward high performers; Recommend promotions; Take appropriate actions to manage poor performance (such as creating Performance Improvement Plans, coaching, job rotations, planning separations from icddr,b) in order to build and develop an engaged and high performing team.
Requirements:
Education and Relevant Experience:
- Masters in Social Science, Anthropology or any other relevant research domain;
- 2 - 3 years experience in field research.
Functional Competencies:
- Good knowledge on data collection tools and methodologies;
- Very good knowledge of Ethical Guidelines;
- Good proficiency in using software applications, particularly MS-Office and MS-Excel.
Behavioral Competencies:
- Can maintain collegiality in the work place;
- Can foster partnerships;
- Able to communicate effectively;
- Able to execute for results;
- Must have innovative thinking skill;
- Able to adopt with continuous learning.
