Job: Consultant - Review of Quality Management System and Technical Documentation in support of Certification of Radionuclide Laboratories

Assignment:
To support the Engineering and Development Section (ED) of the International Monitoring Systems Division (IMS) with the certification of radionuclide laboratories by performing a critical review of the quality management system and technical documentation prepared by the laboratory, to ensure that it complies with the requirements of the Provisional Technical Secreatriat (PTS). The review is an iterative process and will be completed only after the laboratory has substantively complied with the certification requirements regarding the quality system and technical documentation.
Duties:
Under the Supervision of the Project Manager - Radionuclide Monitoring, IMS:
  • Review and evaluate the quality management system documentation of one radionuclide laboratory in particular with regard to the quality manual, analytical methods and technical procedures used for CTBT IMS sample analysis. The review shall be carried out according to the certification requirements described in the current version of the manual and applicable to ISO standards;
  • Complete the documentation review checklist by inserting comments on the documents being reviewed and providing the required and recommended actions on the checklist. This iterative review process shall continue until all the documentations of the two laboratories are in accordance with the certification requirements.
Qualifications:
  • University degree in nuclear physics, rdioanalytical chemistry, nuclear engineering or any of the applied sciences (advanced degree preferred);
  • At least 6 years demonstrated experience in gamma spectrometry, laboratory accreditation against ISO17025, management and technical requirements of a quality management system based on applicable ISO standards; laboratory assessment;
  • Familiarity with the CTBTO and the support provided by radionuclide laboratories to the network of radionuclide stations;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential.
