Assignment:
Background: The Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization with its headquarters in Vienna is the international organization setting up the global verification system foreseen under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), which is the Treaty banning any nuclear weapon test explosion or any other nuclear explosions. The Treaty provides for a global verification regime, including a network of 321 stations worldwide, a communication system, an International Data Centre and on-site inspections to monitor compliance. The Policy Making Organ Secretariat Support Section in the Legal and External Relations Division provides organizational and substantive support for the meetings of the Commission and its subsidiary bodies, as well as printing, reproduction, publishing, capacity building and video streaming services. Under the supervision of the Chief, Policy Making Organs Section, Legal and External Relations Division:Duties:
  • Edit official documentation of the Commission to ensure consistency and adequacy of style and language in conformity with standard PTS editorial guidelines and practice;
  • Carry out other editorial-related tasks as necessary;
  • Conduct Effective and timely editing of official documentation of the Commission according to PTS editorial guidelines and standards.
Qualifications:
  1. University degree in English, editing or writing, or in a scientific or other field related to the work of the Commission;
  2. Experience in editing a broad range of technical and scientific publications in English. Several years of editing experience in an international organization. Familiarity with issues related to the work of the Preparatory Commission desirable;
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills English are essential. Documented ability to provide well written and organized technical overview reports.
Competencies:
Conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results and be able to work independently with minimum supervision. Very good skills in communicating with people from different backgrounds and demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment.
