The Inter-American Development Bank, the largest and leading source of multilateral financing for regional development in Latin America and the Caribbean, is offering the opportunity to assist in the social and economic development of the countries of the region. The Gender and Diversity Unit (SCL / GDI), located within the IDB´s Social Sector, seeks a Summer Intern to be stationed in the IDB Headquarters in Washington, D.C. The summer Intern will contribute to the implementation of the IDB Operational Policy on Gender Equality in Development and foster the advancement IDB Gender Action Plan for Operations through analytical work. The main objective of this appointment is to work on a special research that aims to explore the relationship between Violence against Women and children development outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Undertake analytical work with cross-section demographics and health datasets in several countries to explore the relationship between Violence against Women and children development outcomes. To this end, the consultant will develop databases and apply micro-econometric techniques to test alternative hypotheses and she/he will collaborate in developing the study in this topic.
- Interact with other researchers and analysts inside and outside the Bank to discuss results.
Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree student or equivalent with specialization in Economics, Demography, Public Policy or related field of study; expert knowledge of econometrics and quantitative techniques and methods and; research experience working with household surveys and other micro data.
Computer Skills:
Strong knowledge of Stata
Languages:
Proficiency in English and Spanish
