The Division of Market Development brings together ITC's Trade Information Services section, Market Analysis and Research section and Sector Competitiveness section, and plays an active role in ITC's primary mandate to bridge the information gap faced by exporters and trade support institutions in developing countries and in building the competitiveness of sectors of strategic importance to ITC's partner countries.
The objective of ITC's Trade Information Services section is to strengthen the capacity of Trade Support Institutions' to contribute to export development through the delivery of effici ent trade information services, and to ensure that enterprises are enabled to make better-informed decisions through access to relevant and timely trade information.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Trade Information Capacity Building Officer and under the general guidance of the Chief, TIS, the incumbent will:
  • Edit and distribute technical assistance materials for the Trade Information Services section's technical cooperation programmes and more specifically for the competitive intelligence pilot project.
  • Draft for review communications to mailing lists;
  • Review, proofread and edit key technical assistance materials, organize the process of translation if necessary and the dispatch of course materials;
  • Collect and analyse data for the technical assistance projects' performance indicators;
  • Research, compile and organize information and reference materials from various sources for training materials, advisory missions, meetings and conferences;
  • Provide administrative and logistics support to training events, missions, meetings and conferences;
  • From inputs provided by project managers in the section enter data into the project design portal;
  • Review and proofread project ideas, project plans and any project design related documents before submission to relevant internal review bodies;
  • Draft press release or any other media-related materials with project manager's inputs to showcase TIS work in the area of trade information related projects and programmes;
  • Distribute and collate results of surveys vis-à-vis beneficiaries of TIS technical assistance;
  • Perform other duties as required.
Education:
  • Completion of secondary school education or technical or commercial equivalent, preferably supplemented by training in a related field.
Work Experience:
  • A minimum of three years' experience in programme assistance.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • A good knowledge of trade related technical assistance and developing countries context would be an asset
Languages:
  • Advanced knowledge of English with a working knowledge of French. Knowledge of other UN official languages, particularly Spanish is an asset.
