Background Information - Job-specific
EU has provided funds to implement the Support to District DevelopmentProgramme (EU-SDDP) in selected Districts in North and East Sri Lanka. The overall objective of this programme is to contribute to and capacitate the transition from post-conflict relief to reconstruction and development by supporting selected districts in North and East Sri Lanka, through poverty reduction and provision of basic infrastructure and services for vulnerable populations, support to local economic development, and strengthening of local governance.
Under this programme, UNOPS will undertake three flagship projects under the Support to Social Infrastructure Development in Batticaloa, Mannar and Vavuniya. One of the projects is the Storm Drainage which will involve the construction of storm drainage system in 5 catchment basins in Mannar Township and the implementation of social infrastructure support to build the capacities of local authorities. These projects will be implemented in three (3) years with the full implementation to commence in July 2013.
The Store Keeper will be primarily responsible in maintenance of the stores (for materials and equipment) and ensures that all materials are safely kept and properly recorded in the assigned catchment basin store for the storm drainage project in Mannar. He will work under the guidance and supervision of the Project Engineer of the Mannar Flagship Office.
Functional Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Team Manager/Site Engineer shall provide following tasks to the various teams and staff involved in the construction of storm drainage in Mannar.
- Maintaining stores in order;
- Responsible for all documents related to stores;
- Maintaining asset records;
- Maintaining stock level records and inventory records;
- Well protected materials, equipment and assets of UNOPS under his care;
- Assist in the preparation of labor payroll.

Functional Competencies:
- Knowledge of the UN system and familiarity with UNOPSprocedures is an advantage
- Knowledge and experience on storekeeping operations and management
- Good understanding of written and oral English is essential. Fluent in Tamil, Sinhalese an advantage

Education/Experience/Language requirements Education/Experience: Secondary school education with at least 2 years of relevant work experience supplemented by training in storekeeping. Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of the local languages (Tamil and/or Sinhala) is desirable.
