IRENA is an inter-governmental organization, mandated by Governments worldwide to promote the widespread and increased adoption and sustainable use of all forms of renewable energy. In order to do so, IRENA will facilitate access to all relevant renewable energy. It facilitates and analyses the sharing of best practices and lessons learned regarding policy frameworks, capacity-building activities, available financial mechanisms and relevant technologies on renewable energy.
IRENA Innovation and Technology Centre (IITC) is responsible for the provision of the means for an accelerated renewable energy technology uptake, considering national conditions of resource endowment, social and economic frameworks. In accordance with the IRENA Statute, activities in this field include analysis of renewable energy technology policies; dissemination of information and increased awareness; technologies and equipment overview and assessment of success-failure factors; improved pertinent knowledge and technology transfer, and joint RD&D and provision of information about the development and deployment of national and international technical standards in relation to renewable energy.
REMAP 2030 is a project with the objective of developing pathways, characterizing potentials cost and benefits of renewable energy technology options and identifying international cooperation opportunities to operationalize the aspirational objective of doubling the global renewable energy share by 2030, as defined under SE4ALL. IRENA cooperates closely with its member countries in REMAP and the dialogue is a core and growing component of this activity.
Under the supervision of the Director of IITC, the Senior Programme Officer, Renewable Energy Roadmaps will:
  • Lead and manage the REMAP project team;
  • Coordinate REMAP development, and review the assessments of issues and trends, preparation of studies, analyses and other documents;
  • Direct research and analytical work and present information gathered from diverse sources. Supervise and ensure systematic collection of cost and performance dat. Manage the development and analysis of scenarios and cost curves;
  • Draft analytical reports on different aspects of REMAP and draw conclusions for policy makers;
  • Establish and maintain collaboration and partnerships with key officials at all levels inside and outside the organization, including with REMAP country experts and country focal points;
  • Coordinate activities related to REMAP budget and funding and ensure preparation of related documents and reports.
  • Direct substantive support to consultative and other meetings, include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.
  • Assist in the mobilization of funds to support REMAP
  • Represent the Organisation in meetings and events when requested.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications
Education: Advanced University degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in economics, engineering, environment or natural science, or other relevant field related to energy. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience: A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience within a project management role. Experience of working in international organizations, industry associations, management consultancies and/or national governments in an international setting. Experience in establishing and maintaining cooperation networks with the private sector. Knowledge of roadmapping projects and a good understanding of energy technology and innovation issues.
Language: Excellent command of written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of other languages is desirable.

(1) The amounts for the following benefits are only indicative and subject to periodic adjustments: Post Adjustment (currently 56% of the Annual Net Salary), Dependency allowance (US$2,929 per dependent child p.a.), non-removal allowance, if applicable (US$2,700 with dependents, US$2,020 without dependents p. a), medical insurance for staff members and dependents, Rental subsidy, Provident Fund, and other entitlements as applicable.
