We are seeking a dynamic, innovative, self-motivated, and service-orientated professional for the position of Project Accountant in the Budget, Reporting and Analysis Unit (BRU). Please note this is strictly a temporary position (3 months).

The position will be based at CIMMYT's Main Campus (located 45 km northeast of Mexico City, Mexico).
Specific responsibilities of this position will include:
  • Prepare accurate Financial Reports for submission to donors and other users in compliance with Institute's standard, signed agreements and CGIAR policies.
  • Provide financial information to CIMMYT Project Managers and Program Administrators (PA).
  • Review and verify expenditure of projects to ensure adherence to budgetary requirements.
  • Maintain and complete record of all pertinent documents of each project and coordinate with the Project Management Unit (PMU) and PA.
  • Work closely with external auditors for the audit of special projects, ensuring that audit reports are accurate and tally with the actual reports submitted to the Donors.
  • Coordinate with PA to clarify financial issues, answer queries and give update on the financial status of the project.
  • Review Donor Receivable and make certain that the figures tally with the reports; ensure timely preparations of donor billings; reconcile donor accounts and adjust reconciling items promptly.
  • To review journal reclassifications and adjustments.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
We are seeking candidates with the following qualification, skills and attitudes:
  • BA/BS degree in Accounting.
  • At least 3 years' experience in an accounting role, preferably in an international organization.
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office mainly Excel) and demonstrated experience with accounting systems.
  • Good bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
  • Strong level of customer orientation and flexibility, with a high level of attention to details.
  • Ability to work with different nationalities, under pressure and as a member of diverse work team.
