Postdoctoral Fellow - Agronomy (PRS-2013-12-GS) The successful candidate will undertake research to assess the potential productivity and environmental benefits of new integrated rice production systems against current farm practices. The research will be conducted across a range of agro-environments in Myanmar. There will be a strong focus on pest management and adaptive farmer participatory research. He/She will also assist with identifying factors that may promote technology uptake by smallholder farmers. The position is based at the lRRl Myanmar office in Yangon, Myanmar. The research will contribute to Program 3 of the Global Rice Science Partnership (GRiSP). Qualification Requirements Minimum Education: PhD in agronomy. crop protection, or relevant fields; Experience Required: Must be familiar with smallholder rice-based cropping systems and have hands-on experience with farmer participatory research. Must be able to demonstrate their ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team, and to work closely with those involved in project management at lRRl-HQ, lRRl-Myanmar office and at country partner agencies. Must have published in refereed science journal. Experience of working with national research and extension services in Myanmar is a plus.

Skills Required Conduct small and large scale farmer participatory research on new integrated cropping systems in irrigated and rainfed rice agro-ecosystems in Myanmar; Provide research leadership on the integration of ecologically-based pest management for weeds, rodents and insects; Organizing various stakeholders. including farmers, local government staff and NGO extension workers to participate in, and document the impacts of, integrated best practices for rice production; Support and contribution to training and the development of the capacity of local staff; Assist in the development of annual work plans with collaborators, and organizing project meetings/workshops, and contribute to annual reports
