Background
In 2013 the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine ('OSCE PCU') together with the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine implements the Project called 'Enhancing the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade capacity to generate sustainable economic development policies'.
The Rio+20 international conference on sustainable development that took place in June 2012 gave new impetus to on-going discussions on the need to promote green economies as a means of sustainable development. Development and implementation of green economy development programmes require a knowledge base of green economy research data, country-specific reports, analytical materials, etc.
There is a certain knowledge gap in Ukraine on sustainable development policy instruments and solutions. The OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine (PCU) will assist the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine (MEDT) in developing the sustainable development strategy based on the 'green growth' principles by using the best international practices.
Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Prepare analytical review of current economic development indicators and analyze economic development trends that have been established in the past 20 years;
  • Review principal issues of economic development which necessitate the need to switch from the current economic development model to the resource-efficiency and environment-friendly model;
  • Develop analytical report on possible scenarios of economic development under the conditions of current development model and in case of introduction of alternative 'green economy' model for the period through 2020;
  • Identify 3-5 key targeted indicators for Ukraine which Ukraine has to achieve in the course of 'green growth' economic policy.
Necessary Qualifications
  • University degree in social sciences (preferably in economic theory, international economics);
  • At least 5 years of experience in economic analysis and research;
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office package;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Fluency in Ukrainian and Russian;
  • Knowledge of English will be an advantage.
