Organizational Setting and Reporting
The United Nations Board of Auditors (the Board) comprises of the Auditor-Generals of the United Kingdom, the United Republic of Tanzania and the People's Republic of China who are mandated to conduct audits of the United Nations and its funds and programmes.
This internship opportunity is in the Secretariat of the Board and the selected intern will be reporting directly to the Executive Secretary of the Board.
This internship is for a period of three months with an opportunity of extension, pending on the needs of the department.
This internship opportunity is full-time and UNPAID.
Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the office to which they are assigned.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Executive Secretary or a staff member of the Board of Auditors Secretariat the intern will:
- Perform ad-hoc tasks related to audits of the United Nations, its Funds and Programmes;
- Attend and summarize conferences and meetings;
- Assist in organising the annual session of the Board of Auditors;
- Perform research tasks and draft documents as needed;
- Compile statistics and prepare tables as needed;
- Perform ad hoc tasks as needed.

Education
- Applicants must be enrolled in a degree programme in a graduate school (second university degree or higher);
- or if pursuing their studies in countries where higher education is not divided into undergraduate and graduate stages, have completed at least four years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the
- completion of a degree.
- Applicants must be computer literate in standard software applications.
- Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
- Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with the individuals of different cultural backgrouns and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
Work Experience
- Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
Languages
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
